Chuck believes that if you work 40 hours a week, you should be able to afford to buy a house after a few years of saving – no matter what job you have."

"Much of our area’s growth comes from supporting the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The base brings important industries to our area, but it’s also a single point of failure. Chuck will look for opportunities to incentivize ‘defense adjacent,’ multiple-use innovation: for example, drones can be manufactured and sold to defense agencies and to commercial companies. This can strengthen our current economic base and keep people employed in SOMD, independent of the federal government."

"Hyperscale data centers do not belong in Southern Maryland. They consume hundreds of acres of farm and forest, they draw on the aquifers every family here depends on, and they pull enough power to raise everyone’s bill. Some of the richest corporations on Earth want to build here, and they want a tax break from Maryland families to do it. This is greed with a permit, paid for by our local working families. Chuck will work to repeal the data center tax credit and to put community first and last in any discussion about industrial development."

Chuck plans to champion Right to Repair laws in Maryland, and he wants to simplify nutrient management plan compliance through better technology. By investing in food processing facilities, farm equipment repair, and research partnerships with Maryland universities, we can encourage job growth in this important area and open new career fields for SOMD residents."

Universal school lunches and agricultural partnerships with local farms can bring better food quality and food security to Maryland families. The costs of child care have skyrocketed, and young families are feeling the pinch... Chuck will look for ways to reduce the cost of child care by exploring solutions that have worked in other states, such as shared spaces, partnerships, and state funding."
