Bob Harvey
Candidate for the upcoming General Election on November 3, 2026. Always verify official ballot status with the Maryland State Board of Elections.
Robert 'Bob' Harvey is the incumbent State's Attorney for Calvert County and a 38-year resident of the county with over 40 years of criminal trial prosecution experience. Raised in Calvert County where he and his wife raised four children and five grandchildren, Harvey has personally prosecuted hundreds of serious felony cases, including more than a dozen high-profile murder trials with an unblemished record. He previously served as Deputy State's Attorney in Prince George's County supervising over 50 prosecutors, managed his own private criminal defense law firm in Prince Frederick for over 25 years, and served as Calvert State's Attorney from 1991–1998 and 2020 to present. Endorsed by the Maryland State and Calvert County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Harvey maintains one of Maryland's lowest crime rates by holding violent criminals strictly accountable, keeping drunk drivers off roadways, breaking the cycle of domestic violence, supporting veteran treatment dockets, and consistently returning unspent operational funds to the County Treasury every year.

Public record positions, statements, and campaign positions.
Strict Criminal Accountability for Violent and Repeat Offenders
Enforces strict criminal accountability for violent crimes, illegal firearms, armed robberies, and drunk driving to keep Calvert County's crime rate among the lowest in Maryland, rejecting soft-on-crime policies.
"It is my policy that criminals must be held strictly accountable for their actions. As a result, during my term in office, Calvert has had one of the lowest crime rates in the State of Maryland, if not the nation... When you announce that you are going to target certain crimes, you're telling everyone you're going to ignore others. That kind of reckless policy only leads to a spike in crime."
Returning Unspent Taxpayer Funds to the County Treasury Every Year
Operates the largest law office in Calvert County with strict fiscal discipline, consistently returning unspent operational funds to the County Treasury at the close of every fiscal year.
"I have effectively and efficiently managed the State's Attorney's Office, returning unspent funds to the County Treasury every year. In short, I have done a good job in office and will continue to do so."
Supporting Treatment Diversion for Non-Violent Addiction & Veterans Dockets
Balances firm prosecution of dangerous felons with compassionate intervention through drug courts and expanding specialized mental health services for military veterans.
"Sometimes a violent criminal must go to prison in order to protect public safety. Sometimes a drunk driver must go to jail to keep roads safe. But the job can also have its rewards: if I can help a drug addict become clean and sober through our drug court program, then I will do that too... I will work to expand services available to military veterans through our mental health and drug court dockets."
